2024 TAX CALENDAR

Through Decree 2229 of December 22, 2023 issued by the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, the dates stipulated for compliance with tax obligations before the National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN) were established.

In accordance with the Decree, the period for large taxpayers to file the income and complementary tax return and pay the amount of the first installment begins on the seventh business day of February and ends on the sixteenth business day of the second month of 2024.

Taxpayers must pay the total amount of the tax payable and the advance payment of income tax in three installments in the months of February, April and June, no later than the following deadlines, according to the last digit of the NIT:

On the other hand, financial institutions classified as large taxpayers, obliged to pay the surtax referred to in paragraph 2 of Article 240 of the Tax Statute, shall settle an advance payment calculated on the taxable base of the income tax and complementary taxes on which the taxpayer settled the mentioned tax for the immediately preceding taxable year, and shall pay it in two equal installments in the months of April and June 2024.

For legal entities and other taxpayers, the dates for the first installment are from the seventh working day of May to the sixteenth working day of July 2024, in accordance with the last two digits of the NIT.

For individuals and unliquidated successions that must file the tax return and pay the income tax and complementary tax corresponding to the taxable year 2023, the deadlines will be from the seventh business day of August to the seventeenth business day of October. The due dates for each two-month period are as follows:

Other obligations:

– Simple Taxation Regime (RST): Those who are registered in the Simple Taxation Regime (RST) will have the obligation to file the consolidated annual return between the eleventh and the fifteenth business day of April, according to the last digit of the NIT.  On the other hand, those registered in the RST who are liable for VAT will have the obligation to file and pay the consolidated annual return between the eleventh and fifteenth business day of February.

– Wealth tax: Individuals and/or illiquid successions that as of January 1 of each year have a net worth, i.e., gross assets minus debts payable, equal or higher than 72,000 UVT ($ 3,888,680,000 year 2024), will have the obligation to file the return and pay the tax payable in two installments of 50% each. In this sense, the filing of the return and payment of the first installment will be between the seventh and the sixteenth working day of May. Likewise, the payment of the second installment shall be made on the tenth working day of September.
